Grammie, Let's Play School

"Grammie, let's play school."
Okay, I am tired. Really, really tired. So I hedge a bit. "Gramma is tired. She wants to read for a while. " But the enthusiastic persistance continues. How do I get out of this one? Besides I'm not really in the mood for playing school tonight. "Grammie wants to read for a while. I'll play after Grandpa comes home, okay." Nasty thought. I know he won't be coming home as soon as usual, but she doesn't. Well, he comes home eventually and a promise is a promise. But wait. What about those lilies that need transplanting. We were going to 'hide' them in little nooks and crannies on the walking trail behind the Home.

Okay, we did end up playing school, but maybe not quite the way she had expected.
    "Good morning boys and girls,"
(Aside) "Say Good morning Miss Sunshine."
"Good morning Miss Sunshine!"
"Today is a very exciting day. We are going on a field trip!"
"But what Math and Reading and other stuff?"
"We'll learn that some other time. Now everyone get into line. Tom, quit shoving. You can each choose a partner to walk with. Keisha you may walk with Patsy. " (Pause) ""Is everyone's seat belts fastened? Hensy and Joe stop shoving each other. I am waiting to hear the click. Keisha, I haven't heard the click yet. Our Field Trip today is to the Park behind the Home.
...Which way do we turn, first?"
   "LEFT!!"
"Right! In this case, Right is also north. We will go north for about a mile then turn right. Which is your right hand? Everyone show me your right hand."
"Girls, stop giggling, and pay attention."
"Yes! Looks like you all know what your right hand is. Good for you!
"We are almost there, but first we will stop at the Home so Keisha can deliver a picture she colored to her Mother who is working tonight. The rest of you stay seated."
(Remember there is only one child in this vehicle:
"Mr. Friesen" the driver, gets quite involved with visiting this one and that, so that Field Trip is delayed for the moment.
After a while we arrive at the "Park" which is becoming quite lovely with the blooms of wild roses.
"Everyone get back in line. Keisha! Don't run ahead of the teacher!"
A loud roar permeated the air. Wide eyes turn to "Miss Sunshine's" for an explanation.
Soon a quad appears. With a helmeted driver. Ah huh, this is the man who had been cutting down dead trees. Much to the relief of a certain So-and So he has no objection to us planning orange lilies in strategic locations. In fact he seems quite pleased. The Best part of the Field Trip continues and the Best Part is still before us!
As the "dozen" or so so "children" pile back in to the car, we head back home, and get the trailer hooked up with the canoe on top. Everything matches so nicely (tongue in check) they are all blue.

What a lovely view. Huge clouds are piled overhead white with hints of pink. In another place, streaky clouds, the color of crystal snow cast awesome reflections in the mirror-like finish of the water. Keisha is quite enthralled as Grammie describes and explains many things to her as they glide gracefully along. (Don't ask me what happened to the other children. They vanished in to thin air.)
And I better vanish, too. The library is going to close any minute now.
Not enough time to proofread. Come ON comment on one of my posts. I don't care if I don't know you. I'm just curious about what you are thinking.
