Don't Go Near Those Wretched People! (Part of the Flood Series)

Suddenly Rebecca spotted two big brown eyes peering over the edge of the deck. “What are you doing?” a tiny voice asked. “Why did you build this great, big house?”

Rebecca knelt at the edge of the deck and took the little girl’s hands into her own. “The water is going to rise higher and higher until all the houses will be washed away."

Keiah gazed at her clearly not comprehending. “You mean my feet will get wet, and I’m not even playing by the lake shore?”

“Oh, honey, it will be much worse than that. It’s as if all the houses in all the world are suddenly thrown into a big, big lake.”

“And all the trees, to.” Mairekah added, kneeling on the other side of Rebecca.
Keiah’s eyes grew round. “And all the people to? And my puppy?”

“Oh, honey, I wish it were not so. But you can be safe. You and your Mommy and Dadd--."

"And your puppy, too," Mairekah interrupted.
Rebecca smiled at them both. "We built this big ark--”

“Keiah! How many times have I told you not to go near those wretched people, and now you are talking to them!”
A brawny hand yanked the small child by the collar of her frock
and hauled her into a nearby house while Mairekah ran back to her own, crying.

Little one we too, are crying for you. We cannot reach out to you, but the Father can, and does! He hears our prayers for you, and He will hear yours also. Just reach out like a little children to be held in the loving Father's arms.  He cares. I know it!
