Our son and his helpers diligently worked late into the evenings and this brought a humorous, yet true story to mind. See if you recall it.
"Once upon a time" ;} many, many years ago some youth boys were rather annoyed with the local Mennonite minister. They thought they would get their revenge on him for, for what? I'm not sure, but they had their plans. One night when all good boys should have been in bed, they scrambled up on top of the old man's roof and started tearing the thatched roof apart and throwing the bundles down. It was hot, sweaty work but they were not slackers, nay, not a one! Of course their activity eventually woke
the parson and his wife, but was he irate? Not he.
"Good wife," saith he, "Ought we not to feed these young workers who have laboured so long and hard?
Evidently she must of agreed, or else was an unusually submissive wife, because soon the young workers were called in to enjoy a midnight snack.
I reckon those lads didn't dig in with their usual gusto and enthusiasm, but they did eat, and well... that isn't quite the end of the story.
They meekly restored the roof to its former condition.
Thanks, son, for doing such a nice job of fixing our roof!
