Innocence
This is the prologue to one of the books I am working on right now. By the way have you checked out any of my other ones lately? They are available from Amazon, Iuniverse, and elsewhere.
Oh, the sweet,
sweet summertime! Who could paint a word picture lovely enough to describe the
soothing heat and serenity of a cloudless summer’s day?
Kayleen
was only little but somehow she sensed that there was something almost magical
about this moment. The lilting voices of
the other children continued to float around her as they ran then splashed into
the metal tub filled with tepid water, but for just an instant Kayleen stopped
to delight in the here and now. To her right were juicy red strawberries
nestled among their leaves of green; next to them was the row of flowers that
angled across the large garden patch; beneath her feet the grass, felt soft,
yet tickly and above was that big blue sky. Then she heard the peaceful hum of
a bee and it seemed like the perfect touch.
Be
careful, Kayleen, there is a bee in the garden. And bees sting.
