Escaping From Primo

The little companions didn't talk much anymore: partly because there didn't seem to be anything left to say, but mainly because they bewildered by the strange turn of events, namely this tightening feeling that was coming with increasing frequency.

"I think something is about to happen, "Bel Esprit remarked one day.

"I have been thinking the same thing, "Bon Amie agreed

"It feels like we're being pushed--" his sentence ended in a gasp.

An especially tight hug was forcing him into an opening that he hadn't know was there before. Suddenly his head was caught in some clamp-like devise, and it felt like he was being involuntarily squeezed forward. He wanted to flail his arms out in alarm but they were pinned tightly to him sides. After what seemed like an eternity, the darkness and tension disappeared in a blinding flood of light, and he found himself being swabbed and swaddled in a distinctly foreign environment.

Later he turned wide, uncomprehending eyes to his sister who had also entered the Brilliant Place but didn’t recognise her at first because she was cosily wrapped in pink. For once he deeply appreciated the familiar lub-dub sound which was nearer to his ear than ever before.

They heard voices, also, which were shrill with excitement and emotion, but the language was queer, loud and different. A heavy feeling of sleepiness pressed around both of them. There was so much to learn, so much to discover, more than their tiny minds were even beginning to grasp. Discoveries beckoned them into vastly varied fields. So how did they respond to this profound information?

They slept.
